Reacts with CR1, the receptor for the complement component C3b, composed of four different allotypes (160, 190, 220 and 250 kD). CD35 antigen is expressed on granulocytes, monocytes, B cells, some NK cells and erythrocytes. It binds complement components C3b and C4b, mediating phagocytosis by neutrophils and monocytes. This antibody cannot inhibit the phagocytic capacity of granulocytes. CD35 antibody is useful in studies of complement receptors. This antibody is routinely tested by flow cytometric analysis. Other applications were tested during antibody development only or reported in the literature.
