VAMP5
(Vesicle-Associated Membrane Protein 5 (Myobrevin) (VAMP5))
VAMP5 (Vesicle-Associated Membrane Protein 5) may participate in trafficking events that are associated with myogenesis, such as myoblast fusion and/or GLUT4 trafficking. VAMP5 is a Type IV membrane protein and it is associated with the plasma membrane as well as intracellular perinuclear and peripheral vesicular structures of myotubes and is also associated with the trans-Golgi, but not with the cis-Golgi apparatus. It is preferentially expressed in the skeletal muscle and heart, detected at lower levels in several other tissues but not in the brain.Synonyms: HSPC191, VAMP5, Vesicle-associated membrane protein 5
