Background: Myeloid-associated differentiation marker (MYADM) is a member of the MAL family with the unique features of having eight transmembrane regions and a ubiquitous pattern of expression and of being found localized at the plasma membrane. MYADM has been found to be associated with the differentiation of hematopoietic cells or acute promyelocytic leukemia cells. MYADM could serve as a new marker for hematopoietic differentiation and is a target for diagnostic, prognostic and/or therapeutic interventions.
