- Sujet
- Background: HLA-B-associated transcript 3 was originally identified as a gene within the class III region of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC). In Xenopus, the homolog of BAT3 is known as Scythe. Scythe has been shown to play a role in the regulation of apoptosis. BAT3 is suggested to play a role in both proliferation and apoptosis, and it is suggested to influence these processes as a co-chaperone recruiter. BAT3 has been shown to be an essential regulator of the DNA damage-induced acetylation of p53 and the p53-mediated response to genotoxic stress.
