HSPX (heat shock protein hspX) functions as stress protein induced by anoxia. hspX has a proposed role in maintenance of long-term viability during latent, asymptomatic infections, and a proposed role in replication during initial infection. regulated by the two component regulatory system devr|rv3133c/devs|rv3132c, in response to a hypoxic signal. The hspX contains a ACD_sHsps-like domain. Alpha-crystallin domain (ACD) of alpha-crystallin- type small(s) heat shock proteins (Hsps). sHsps are small stress induced proteins with monomeric masses between 12 -43 kDa, whose common feature is the Alpha-crystallin domain (ACD).
