- Sujet
- Ghrelin was discovered in 1999 as the endogenous ligand of growth-hormone secretagogue receptor 1: i) Ghrelin is a 28 residue peptide with an n- octanoyl group on Ser3 ii) The major ghrelin producing organ is the stomach. Since then, many studies have been performed using synthetic ghrelin. These studies have shown that ghrelin is a multifunctional peptide, with functions that include the regulation of appetite as well as cardiovascular functions.
